China to improve policy environment for foreign investors

Date 09 June 2009

The Ministry of Commerce has announced plans to facilitate the inflow of foreign direct investments into China. In particular, the examination and approval procedures for foreign investments will be simplified. This will help to stimulate growth, create new jobs and speed up the process of economic reform amidst the current financial crisis.

The ministry also intends to strengthen guidance and optimize industry structures for fast growing areas such as the high technology, environmentally friendly and modern services sectors. Policy measures will also be improved, with increased support for infrastructure construction to speed up the development of the non-coastal regions in central and western China. Finally, China will also closely monitor the current financial crisis and provide support for any difficulties that companies may encounter.

Foreign enterprises currently account for 29.7% of total industrial output and provide jobs for 45 million people. It is predicted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development that China will remain as the most attractive location for foreign investment for years to come.
